Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is celebrated every year in early October. As the name suggests, Albuquerque, a city in the US State of New Mexico, plays host to the 9-day event. With more than 500 hot air balloons filling up the clear skies of New Mexico, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is one of the largest hot air balloon festivals in the world.
From just 13 balloons in the year 1972, the event has now become a major celebration. Covering a massive space of more than 360 acres, Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta features a variety of events such as hot air balloon race, live music concerts, competitions, and games for kids of all age groups. What are the dates for 2018 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta?
The hot air balloon festival will start on 6 October (Saturday) and conclude on 14 October (Sunday). In the 2018 balloon fest, there will be 14 sessions to be held during the morning and evening slots. While the morning session will begin as early as 4:30 am, the evening session will commence at 3:30 pm and go on until 9 pm. Please note that there will be no events during the midday hours.
Where the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta takes place?
The ballooning event takes place at City of Albuquerque Park, located toward the north of Alameda Boulevard. The site is about 1 mile away from Interstate 25 (I-25).
What are the tickets’ prices for Albuquerque Balloon Fest?
There are three types of tickets to choose from – General Admission Tickets, Tickets for Dining Areas, and Park & Ride Tickets. While the General Admission tickets cost $10 per person, the tickets for Dining Areas and Park & Ride are priced at $45 and $15 respectively. The ticket charges written above are for one session and for advance reservation!
From where can I buy tickets for the Balloon Fiesta?
You can book tickets online at www.balloonfiesta.com/guest-guide/ticketing-information or from Balloon Fiesta’s Gift Shop situated at 4401 Alameda Blvd. NE. The general admission tickets are also available at Costco and 7-11. Alternatively, you can purchase the tickets from outside the event gate.
How much will it cost me to ride a hot air balloon?
The balloon rides are priced at $275 per person if you are a group of 5 individuals. However, if you are taking a group of 8 people to share a ride, the cost will come down to $165 per person.
For how long the hot air balloon ride last?
While the whole process – inflation, launch, take-off, and landing – roughly takes about 4 hours, you can expect to remain mid-air, floating in balloon’s basket, for nearly one hour.
Where can I park my car at the Balloon Fiesta?
You can park your private vehicle or rental car at the general parking lots located on the park’s northern and southern ends. The car parking rate is $15 per car for one session. Also, note that you cannot reserve a car parking space online!
