Stagecoach has been rocking the lives of people since May 1997; its impact can be deduced from the fact that at its inception it was a 2 day event and owing to its unusual success, one more day was added to the festival the following year in 1998. Initially it was stereo-typed as the shadow or the country-music counterpart of the ‘mega’ music festival- Coachella which is also staged and organized on the same grounds, still Stagecoach has proved from the very beginning that there is more to it than this stated difference.
Stagecoach Music festival Highlights
First of all, Stagecoach Music festival is a scaled down version of Coachella in a bit-more- relaxed kind of way such that if I say it perfectly befits a family outing, out and out- it won’t be wrong at all. For those who want a relief from music which as per common occurrences in other festivals reaches the verges of ‘noise’, Stagecoach is certainly an answer for those who crave soothing and quality music enhanced by good lyrics.
Moreover, combination of California desert and a laid-back ambience filled with the sounds of folk and country music is beyond intoxicating; first year’s crowd of 55000 has now swelled to multifold numbers. No wonder every year it brings a convincing line-up of artists to mesmerize the audiences; in addition to music it also brings to the surface best ‘food and camping’ arrangements to facilitate the comfort of the visitors.
This year’s line-up includes numerous singers with Eric Church, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan as the highlights, all set to perform on each consecutive day.
Story Telling makes it Unique!!!
Despite a big line of singers, it’s the acts by the veterans who bring power to the festival and indeed, rejuvenate the soul of Stagecoach every year. It is a fact that without good lyrics a song is incomplete, hence in order to emphasize this aspect, Stagecoach sets up special tents dedicated to storytelling and cowboy poetry etc.
It has been able to leave an impression on the people and in the past had been able to bring big names like Red Steagall and Garrison Keillor.
BBQ Championship & More
Apart from the spectacular list of line-upped performances by renowned or upcoming singers, this place is also known as the site of BBQ Championship since 2008. Before this time this competition was run and managed by Kansas City BBQ Society, but since 2013 it has been hosted by the festival itself; numerous participants compete for prize money of $10,000.
Festival Passes, Food and Accommodation:
Stagecoach Festival Passes come in two types: $249 for general pass and $749 for corral admission; the latter is also of two types, on buying this pass one gets an option to choose from corral standing pit and corral reserved seating. Corral passes provides an excellent view of the main stage plus access to an area which offers saloons, shaded area, bathrooms and spaces reserved for concert viewing.
Taking food breaks is really common and to the organizer’s credit, various renowned restaurants of the region dot the festival grounds, hence getting access to food is not a problem. As one saunter the grounds, whiffs of delicious food will make your mouth water; as variety is humongous, one can have anything from veggies to meats to desserts to sea-food et al.
